MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Fire Marshal’s Office of the City of Ansonia to provide a fire safe environment to all citizens and visitors to the City of Ansonia and to prevent and/or reduce the harm associated with fires and explosions. This will be accomplished by providing professional life safety services and through regular inspections in accordance with the Connecticut Fire Safety Code and its associated regulations and through comprehensive educational programs.
The Fire Marshal’s duties include enforcement of Connecticut General Statutes Chapter 541 and the numerous regulations promulgated under the provisions of these standards. Some of the major duties include, but are not limited to:
· Inspecting all occupancies in Ansonia with the exception of one and two family dwelling units
· Investigating all fires and explosions
· Issuing blasting permits and inspecting blasting sites
· Reviewing plans for all new construction, additions and renovations to all buildings except 1 and 2 family dwellings
· Review new subdivisions and commercials sites for proper installation of hydrants and fire department access
· Conducting fire safety programs and assisting the public in all matters of fire and safety issues.

Ansonia Fire Marshal's office trains Ansonia Social Security office employees in the use of fire extinguishers. This fire extinguisher simulator was purchased with funds from the federal Assistance to Firefighters' Grant program.
