Parks & Recreation Board
The Ansonia Parks & Recreation Board was established by City ordinance in 2020 to ensure the proper and regular maintenance of the City's recreational facilities and to make recommendations to the Board of Aldermen concerning the use, upkeep, and need for recreational space in Ansonia. The Board also serves as the interface between the City and its various sports leagues and teams, and assists with the coordination of scheduling for the City's recreational facilities.
The Board consists of seven members: the Superintendent of Public Works, a member of the Public Works Commission, the City's Recreation Director, a member of the Inland Wetlands Commission, and three Ansonia residents appointed by the Mayor with approval of the Board of Aldermen. All members serve five-year terms. The Board chooses its own Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary from among its membership every two years.

About the Board
The Board develops and oversees a maintenance plan for the City's recreational facilities, ensuring timely preparation for use by sports leagues and teams. It regularly reviews league and team schedules and makes recommendations to the Recreation Director regarding efficient and fair usage of the City's recreational resources.
The Board solicits comments from Ansonia residents and sports league representatives and incorporates that input into its recommendations to the Board of Aldermen. The Chairperson renders a monthly report to the Board of Aldermen on the Board's activities, recommendations, and the upcoming month's facility usage schedule. The Board may adopt rules and regulations for park and facility use, subject to approval by the Board of Aldermen; enforcement is handled by the Recreation Director and/or the Police Department.

Board Members
Seven members: three Ansonia residents appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by the Board of Aldermen (5-year terms), plus the Superintendent of Public Works, a Public Works Commission member, the Recreation Director, and an Inland Wetlands Commission member serving in their respective ex-officio capacities.
