Cultural Commission
The Cultural Commission encourages participation in and promotes the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural activities throughout Ansonia — including music, theater, dance, opera, painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, film, and allied arts and crafts. To advance these goals the Commission may partner with private patrons, institutions, and professional organizations.
The Commission consists of seven members serving three-year staggered terms, appointed by the Mayor with approval of the Board of Aldermen. No more than four members may be from the same political party. The Commission submits an annual budget to the Board of Aldermen and the Board of Apportionment & Taxation, and provides a written monthly budget report to the Board of Aldermen.
